Elise Mertens is a professional Belgian female tennis player. She plays right-handed (two-handed backhand). With her favourite shot being her serve. And her favourite surface is grass.

Elise started playing tennis at the age of 4, she was introduced to tennis by her elder sister Lauren (who is an airline pilot). Her first tennis memory was watching Kim Clijsters live. Her mothers name is: Liliane Barbe and her fathers name is Guido. Elise turned professional in 2013.

Elise Mertens won her first WTA women’s singles title in January 2017 at the Hobart International beating No.3 seed Monica Niculescu.

16th of February 2019 - Elise Mertens came back from a set and a break down to defeat world No.3 Simona Halep at the Qatar Total Open to win her first title of the season and the biggest title of her career. The result was 3-6 6-4 6-3.
