Timea Bacsinszky Biography

Timea Bacsinszky is a professional Swiss female tennis player. Born in Belmont-sur-Lausanne (Switzerland) on the 8th of June 1989. Her family background is Hungarian. She first held a tennis racket at the age of 3.

She plays Right-handed (two-handed backhand). She turned pro in October 2004.

First WTA title

On the 25th of October 2009 she won her first WTA tournament in Luxemburg.

Bacsinszky refused to play in the 2012 London Olympic Games and decided to take a step back from her career. As her ranking dropped at the end of 2012, Timea considered ending her career to begin studying at the Ecole Hoteliere in Geneva.

This is where she began a 3 months long intership at the well known 5 star luxury hotel " Chalet Royalp" in the Swiss alps in Villars-sur-Ollon.

In May 2013 Timea received an email saying “That she was eligible for the qualifying rounds at Roland Garros” (French Open). She got in her car and drove all the way to Paris to play, even though she had not held a tennis racket in over 3 months.

This experience triggered her love for the game. This is why Timea decided to start a 2nd career and also took on a new coach.

2015 was a great year for the Swiss winning back to back WTA tournaments. (Acapulco and Monterrey).
