Zhang Shuai is a professional Chinese tennis player. She plays right-handed (two-handed backhand) and turned pro in 2003. She won her 1st WTA singles title in 2013 at the Guangzhou International Women's Open. She entered the tournament as a wildcard and defeated qualifier Vania King in the final, to claim the title.

She is coached by Liu Shuo. Her parents are Zhang Zhiqiang (a former football player) and Wang Fengqin (a former basketball player). Her English name is Rose. She has spoken of opening a coffee bar when she retires.

She won her first singles match in a Grand Slam tournament at the 2016 Australian Open where she beat world number 2 Simona Halep in straight sets to cause a huge upset, however joy for her.
