
Emma Raducanu is a British professional tennis player who plays right-handed (two-handed backhand). Emma was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to parents Ian and Renee. Her father is Romanian and her mother is Chinese. The family moved to the England when Emma was two years old.
Emma started playing tennis at the age of five. She attended Newstead Wood School, a selective grammar school in the London Borough of Bromley, where she obtained an A* in mathematics and an A in economics in her A-Levels.

23rd of May 2022 - Emma won her first match at the French Open on her debut defeating Linda Noskova in what was a really close match. The result was 6-7 7-5 6-1.
11th of March 2022 - Emma has won her first match at the Indian Wells tennis tournament defeating Caroline Garcia of France in three sets 6-1 3-6 6-1.
2nd of February 2022 - Emma is now ranked No.13 in the world. This is her highest career ranking to date.
16th of January 2022 - Emma will play Sloane Stephens of the USA in her first round match at the Australian Open.
11th of January 2022 - Emma has been thrashed in her first match of the Sydney International. She lost the match 6-0 6-1.
1st of January 2022 - Emma has been awarded with an MBE in the New Years Honours list by Her Majesty the Queen.
22nd of December 2021 - Emma has Tweeted a message with two images saying "thrilled to join the @British_Airways family as a global brand ambassador! The airline has already been part of a special time for me, flying me home from the US Open. I look forward to working with the iconic British brand on some exciting projects!" 19th of December 2021 - Emma won BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2021. She was actually in self isolation when she received the award.
13th of December 2021 - Emma has tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently isolating as a result she had to withdraw from an exhibition match where she was due to play Belinda Bencic in Abu Dhabi.
9th of December 2021 - Emma has joined the Evian team. This is what she wrote in an Instagram post "I’m honored to join the evian team! Evian is an iconic brand and a champion of tennis and the younger generation, which is why I’m proud to join their family. Being an athlete, healthy hydration continues to be of the upmost importance to my day-to-day activity so I’m excited to partner with evian and can’t wait to see what’s next!" 28th of November 2021 - Emma played in a tennis exhibition match at the Royal Albert Hall against her good friend Elena Gabriela Ruse. Emma won the match 6-3 7-6.
25th of November 2021 - Emma has been voted Sunday Times Sportswoman of the year.
24th of November 2021 - Emma has posted a Tweet on Twitter saying "So excited to be playing in front of a home crowd this weekend @ChampionsTennis, an event I would go to watch as a young kid. 15th of November 2021 - Emma has reached a career-high women's tennis ranking - now ranked at world No.19.
10th of November 2021 - BBC Breakfast presenters defend Emma Raducanu saying "Some people are a little bit mean towards her maybe after her loss in Austria". They go on to say she's a superstar and watch this space for next year. And people are jealous.
10th of November 2021 - Emma has announced that Torben Beltz will be her new coach. This is what she said on an LTA's Twitter post "It's obviously a great privilege to be working with such an experienced coach - I'm definitely very excited to work with him throughout the pre-season and into next year".

8th of November 2021 - Emma has said "She will have a new coach in place for the 2022 Australian Open". Currently without a coach she is coaching herself.
8th of November 2021 - Emma has appeared in a Sports Direct advert for Christmas where she hits a snowball at Jack Grealish with a tennis racket. To watch the advert click here.
7th of November 2021 - Emma will play in her final tournament of the season this week. She has arrived in Austria for the Upper Austria Ladies Linz tennis tournament which is a WTA 250 event.

29th of October 2021 - Emma has been knocked out of the Transylvania Open by Marta Kostyuk, she lost in straight sets 6-2 6-1.
28th of October 2021 - Emma has beaten Romania's Ana Bogdan in straight sets 6-3 6-4 to reach the quarter finals of the Transylvania Open. Emma is the third seed and will play the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk next.
26th of October 2021 - Emma has won her first match since winning the 2021 US Open at the Transylvania Open in her fathers home country of Romania. 28th of September 2021 - Emma has been given a wildcard into the main draw of Indian Wells. This will be the first tournament she has played in since winning the US Open. This is one of the biggest tennis tournaments outside of the Grand Slams. (A WTA 1000 event).
24th of September 2021 - Emma has split with her coach Andrew Richardson.
24th of September 2021 - Emma played some tennis with Kate Middleton (Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge) as part of an LTA youth event.

16th of September 2021 - Emma has arrived home in Bromley, Kent after spending seven weeks in the States. She posed with father Ian outside her home for photographers/media.
13th of September 2021 - Emma took to the social media platform Instagram posting a picture of herself pointing to a picture of her on a billboard in New York. 13th of September 2021 - As a result of Emma winning the 2021 US Open she has now become the new British No.1 and rocketed up the rankings to world No.23. She moved up 127 places.
11th of September 2021 - Emma has won the US Open by defeating fellow teenager Leylah Fernandez 6-4 6-3 on Arthur Ashe Stadium. Emma is the first woman in the history of the sport to win a Grand Slam entering the tournament as a qualifier. She is the first British woman to win a Grand Slam in 44 years since Virginia Wade won Wimbledon in 1977. Virginia was in the crowd cheering Emma on.
