16th of May 2019 - Maria Sharapova has pulled out of the French Open with on ongoing shoulder problem. She made the announcement via Instagram. Here’s what she had to say “Withdrawing from the French Open today. Sometimes the right decisions aren’t the easiest ones!!

In better news, I have returned to the practice court, and slowly building the strength back in my shoulder. I’ll really miss you Paris, until next year”.

30th of January 2019 - Maria Sharapova has pulled out of the St. Petersburg Open tournament due to a right shoulder injury. Sharapova was due to play in the all Russian tie against Daria Kasatkina in the second round of the tournament but withdrew due to shoulder ailments. She said "she will meet with doctors and hopes to be playing competitive tennis again as soon as possible". Daria Kasatkina will now play in the quarter-finals.

28th of January 2019 - Maria Sharapova has beat Daria Gavrilova 6-0 6-4 in her first match since the Australian Open. The match was played in her home country of Russia at the St. Petersburg Open. 15th of February 2018 - Maria Sharapova has pulled out of the Dubai Duty Free Championship due to an injury she picked up in her loss to Monica Niculescu in the Qatar Open. Sharapova was handed a wild card into the tournament.

12th of February 2018 - Qatar Open 2018: Maria Sharapova has been knocked out in the first round. 

Qualifier Monica Niculescu of Romania has knocked Maria Sharapova out of the 2018 Qatar Open in the first round.

Sharapova of Russia was beaten 4-6 6-4 6-3 in two hours and 38 minutes by the world number 92, Monica Niculescu in Doha.

Sharapova struggled with consistency, with 52 unforced errors during the match. Monica Niculescu will now play either Magdalena Rybarikova or wild-card Fatma Al Nabhani in the second round.

Maria who is currently ranked 41 in the world was handed a wild-card and this was her first appearance in Qatar since 2013. Read more >
