Paula Badosa is a professional Spanish tennis player who plays right-handed (two-handed backhand). She was born in Manhattan, USA to Mireia Gibert and Josep Badosa. Both of her parents worked in the world of fashion.
Paula is an aggressive baseliner whose favourite shot is her serve, favourite tournament is the US Open. Her childhood idol growing up was Maria Sharapova who inspired her to become a professional tennis player.

18th of November 2021 - Paula summed up her year in an Instagram post, this is what she wrote "Goodbye to 2021... what a season. I had always dreamed about this moment of being among the best in the world. After a lot of hard work, I have achieved it and I am very proud to have reached this point. I have lived many emotions this year and many new experiences.
Every day I am learning and trying to improve to be 1% better as a person and athlete. Thanks to all the fans who follow me and support me unconditionally, I try to read all of you always.
I wanted to thank my family and team who are with me always helping me to improve, without them I would not be where I am or who I am. I feel very fortunate to have so many good people by my side pushing me.
I am very proud to have gotten as far as I have but I am going to work harder than ever to stay (emoji) see you in 2022"... (emoji)

16th of November 2021 - Paula has been knocked out of the WTA Finals by fellow Spaniard Garbine Muguruza. Paula played great tennis but Garbine played a phenomenal match in what some commentators said "This was the best match of the tournament to date". The result was 3-6 3-6.
13th of November 2021 - Paula has reached the semi finals at the WTA Finals (Mexico) after defeating Maria Sakkari in straight sets 7-6 6-4.
12th of November 2021 - Paula has beaten Aryna Sabalenka in her first match at the Akrona WTA Finals Guadalajara. The result was 6-4 6-0 against the top seed and world number 2. To see the pictures that Paula posted on Twitter after the match click here.
8th of November 2021 - Paula has broke into the top 10 of the women's rankings for the first time in her career. She is ranked world number 10.
18th of October 2021 - Paula has won the 2021 Indian Wells tennis tournament on her debut in the desert defeating Victoria Azarenka of Belarus in a phenomenal final that lasted 3 hours and 4 minutes in the sweltering heat. The result of the tennis match was 7-5 2-6 7-6 (7-2). At the end of the match there was pure respect with a nice hug, to see this click here. It is Paula's second WTA tour title after May's Belgrade victory.
As a result of Paula winning the tournament she has now broke into the top 20 of the women's rankings. Now ranked 13 in the world.
16th of October 2021 - Paula has made it into the final of Indian Wells (BNP Paribas Open) where she will face Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, she defeated Ons Jabeur of Tunisia in the semi finals in straight sets 6-3 6-3. Indian Wells is a 1000 event which carries the most ranking points apart from the Grand Slams.
30th of June 2021 - Paula won her first round match at Wimbledon defeating fellow countrywoman Aliona Bolsova 6-2 5-7 6-2.
